Stir it up - updated

Apparently I am causing quite the stir at my potential new employer's office. I (Baruch Hashem) received an actual written job offer this week. This interview process started waaay back in the fall, while I was still in Italy. My brother in law was checking voice messages and they called me in for an interview. I did a quick on over the phone and when i returned, I had, what i thought was a pretty good interview. Then after a couple of weeks of following up and hearing nothing, I got the picture. I didn't get the job.

A couple of weeks ago, much to my pleasant surprise, they phoned asking me to come back in, as they received funding for a third position (they hired two people the last time) and I was the third best from before and they liked me. Cool! So I went in, it was a pretty short interview as they already knew everything they needed to know. Reference check and now, an offer.

Before I accept the offer though I have two issues - one Hashem willing - I will be travelling to Israel in June. It's paid for, and was arranged pre-them so...and two - I'm a practicing Jew - i.e. holidays are HOLY days...I need to take them off. I am willing to make up hours, telework etc in order to remain productive. I need to know, however, that this is ehmmm...Kosher with them.

Israel trip is all good to go with them. Apparently, they aren't sure what the policy is on religious observance. By law, they can't say no. Head of HR couldn't give a definite answer apparently, because they are waiting on the CEO and the Deputy CEO for the answers. (this is the stir to which I am referring).

Update - New boss gives me thumbs up on Jewish holiday leave. I gave old boss "notice". He is happy for me, but disappointed of course. It was wierd. I felt like we were "breaking up".
